Behavior analysis is a natural-science approach to understanding the causes of behavior. In basic behavior analysis, we investigate basic processes and principles that govern the behavior of humans and other animals. Applied behavior analysis is the scientific application of these principles to a wide range of socially relevant behavior.
Take courses with an EAB prefix
Get involved in a basic or applied research lab (Dr. Branch, Dallery, Hackenberg, Iwata, Vollmer, Wynne.) Check the faculty websites for more information.
Start talking to graduate students and faculty in the behavior analysis program
Yes. However, only one of these two will count as a required course (that is, only one will count as your "Group A" requirement). The other will count as an elective. Even if ISIS doesn't let you register, you can still add the course. You should see the advising office for more details.

Students wishing to concentrate in basic behavior analysis generally take the EAB 3002 and 4022 courses, individual research work, and - when qualified - EAB 5055 and EAB 5436 (see listings below). Students wishing to concentrate in applied behavior analysis follow EAB 3002 with selections from 3764, 4184, 4704, 4714, and 4724. Superior students are invited to work on honors theses. Go to http://www.isis.ufl.edu/ for course listings, descriptions, and instructor evaluations.
EAB 3002 - Principles of Behavior Analysis An introduction to and survey of the principles, methods, theories and applications of the Experimental Analysis of Behavior.
EAB 3764 - Applied Behavior Analysis Extension of learning principles to human problems. Topics include: child development, education, mental health, mental retardation, behavioral medicine, business and industry, aging and environmental applications.
EAB 4022 - Laboratory Procedures in Behavior Analysis An introduction to general laboratory procedures and apparatus employed in the experimental analysis of animal behavior. Daily laboratory sessions focus upon experimental treatments, apparatus programming and data analysis.
EAB 4184 - Behaviorism and Contemporary Society Consideration of the applications of behavioral science and technology to contemporary society with emphasis upon the implications of behavioristic theory and the experimental analysis of behavior.
