Program: Developmental Psychology

Lisa M. Sontag is a 4th year graduate student in the Developmental program and works with Dr. Julia A. Graber. In Fall, 2006, Lisa received her M.S. in Psychology. Her research broadly focuses on the development of psychopathology, the impact of pubertal timing and pubertal changes, stress and coping, and peer relationships. She recently completed a research project that examined the impact of positive and negative peer experiences on the psychosocial well-being of young adolescents in Gainesville, FL.

Sonja Damnjanovic

Program: Cognitive & Sensory Processes

Sonja Damnjanovic is a 5th year student in the Cognitive program and works under the advisement of Dr. Ira Fischler. She received her M.A. from the University of Warsaw in June, 2002. Her research interests include emotion and cognitive/executive control, evaluative learning, and psychophysiology. Her dissertation research examines cognitive and psychophysiological processes underlying impulsive behavior.

Carla Lagorio

Program: Behavior Analysis

Carla Lagorio is a 3rd year graduate student in the Behavioral Analysis program. She entered the program in Fall, 2005 and works under the advisement of Dr. Timothy Hackenberg. Carla’s research interests are generally centered on examining the basic principles of operant behavior and, more specifically, the quantification of choice behavior in both human and nonhuman subjects. Another research interest of hers is the integration of behavioral economic and behavior analytic theories via operant experimentation. Her most recently completed research examined risky choice in both pigeon and human subjects using analogous methodologies to determine the commonalities in choice behavior.

Marisa Miller

Program: Social Psychology

Marisa Miller is a 5th year graduate student in the Social Psychology program and works with Dr. Barry Schlenker. She received her M.S. in Spring, 2005 and plans to complete her Ph.D. at the end of Spring, 2008. Marisa’s research interests include self-presentation, covert aggression, moral identity, excuses, and personal responsibility.

Amber Muehlmann

Program: Behavioral Neuroscience

Amber M. Muehlmann is a 5th year graduate student in the area of Behavioral Neuroscience and works with Dr. Darragh P. Devine. She received her M.S. in August, 2005. Amber’s research interests include the neurobiology of self-injurious behavior, autism, neuroplasticity, and the neurobiological and neurochemical interactions between dopaminergic/glutamatergic/stress pathways.

Michael Parent

Program: Counseling Psychology

Michael Parent is a 1st year student, entering the Counseling Psychology program in Fall, 2007. He received his B.A. from the University of Manitoba in May, 2007. Michael works under the advisement of Dr. Bonnie Moradi. His research interests include sexual orientation identification, stereotyping, research methodology, particularly structural equation modeling, and psychometrics.

Program: Developmental Psychology

Dr. Robin West, Professor of Psychology, has been conducting research on memory and aging for over 30 years, with an emphasis on factors that enhance memory ability in the later years. Dr. West completed her M.A. and Ph.D. at Vanderbilt University and did postdoctoral work at the Aging and Development Program at Washington University in St. Louis. Dr. West has been in the Department of Psychology at the University of Florida since 1987 and is currently the department Graduate Coordinator.
