Baby Gator Nursery, a nonprofit childcare center, offers on-campus day care services for preschool children in the University community <http://www.coe.ufl.edu/BabyGator>.
Black Graduate Student Organization offers membership to all graduate students at the University. Among its purposes are to disseminate information on available scholarships, fellowships, grants, and other financial aid; to provide consultation to admission committees on the selection of black graduate students; and to extend support and fellowship. Division of Housing offers complete information on housing both on and off campus. Rates and availability information for campus dormitory rooms, apartments, and graduate family housing are available through the Division of Housing. In addition to a listing of students seeking roommates, the Off-Campus office within the Division maintains lists of rooms in private homes, apartment houses, rental houses, and mobile homes for students seeking off-campus housing. The Editorial Office of the Graduate School offers advice to students writing theses and dissertations. A thesis manual of the University’s format requirements, workshops on manuscript preparation, and individual consultation on format and style with the thesis editors are among the services offered to students at no charge.
English Language Institute offers a noncredit, nondegree program in English as a second language for international students who wish to increase their competence. Gainesville Community Services Many organizations in the community can help meet students’ needs. Among these are Alcoholics Anonymous, American Civil Liberties Union, Birth Center (midwifery care in a family-centered environment), Boys and Girls Clubs, Bridge House (an alcohol detoxification center), Corner Drug Store (drug-related problems, drug analysis, information, and referral), Crisis Center, Three Rivers Legal Services, Meridian Behavior Health Care, Rape Victim Advocate Program, Peaceful Paths (Women’s Abuse Shelter), Florida AIDS/HIV Hotline, Tel-Med Tape Library (tape-recorded health messages), and the YMCA.

Graduate Student Council is an advocacy group for graduate students. The GSC organizes and coordinates activities and programs such as an orientation for new graduate students, an annual research forum, social events, and free childcare during finals, and publishes a handbook and a newsletter.

Institute of Black Culture through its lectures, presentations, forums, and seminars aids in educating students about the history and culture of black peoples over the world. The Institute involves students in planned activities and encourages them to engage in individual, creative projects.
Institute of Hispanic-Latino Cultures serves as the nucleus of UF's Hispanic community. The center brings speakers to campus; plans workshops, forums, and educational programs; and celebrates the diversity of Hispanic life and culture <http://www.dso.ufl.edu/multicultural/lacasita>.
International Student Services (ISS), in UF's International Center, gives administrative and support services to international students, exchange students, scholars and their families. Services begin as soon as the students arrive at UF and continue until they return to their home country. The ISS coordinates with government and university agencies to evaluate international student financial statements; assists in immigration matters; issues IAP-66s and I20s; and counsels on academic, financial, and cultural issues (community relations, orientation programs, and cross-cultural workshops) <http://www.ufic.ufl.edu>.
J. Wayne Reitz Union serves as the official center of campus activities. In addition to a wide range of food services and hotel accommodations, the building houses student organization offices, an arts and crafts center, an art gallery, a free typing and word processing area, a game room and arcade, public telephones, passenger and ride wanted bulletin boards, a bank, a computer sales and service shop, an eye care center, a travel agency, and a hair styling shop. The Reitz Union's Office of Student Activities regularly offers leisure classes (from yoga and quilting to jazz and rock guitar), current and cultural films, outdoor excursions such as rafting and camping, and a speaker’s program <http://www.union.ufl.edu>.
Office of Academic Technology aids graduate teaching assistants by providing film projectors, overhead projectors, tape recorders, and other types of audiovisual equipment for use in their classrooms. The Office maintains a film and videotape library teaching assistants can use for instructional purposes. A language and learning laboratory is available for use by all students and it houses an extensive library of foreign language tapes <http://www.at.ufl.edu>.
Office for Student Services in the Division of Student Affairs provides a variety of programs to help meet students’ intellectual, psychological, social, and physical needs. Offerings include individual advisement, orientation for new students, minority student services, programs for students older than the traditional age, women’s programs, veteran student services, and services for students with disabilities. Southwest Recreation Center, across from the Harn Museum, offers expanded indoor and outdoor facilities for sports and fitness activities. Speech and Hearing Clinic offers year-round evaluation and therapy services to students who have learning disabilities or speech, language, or hearing disorders <http://web.csd.ufl.edu/clinic.html>.
Stephen C. O’Connell Center provides free recreational facilities to students, faculty, and staff—a swimming pool, weight rooms, and an indoor track. Scheduled events include intercollegiate basketball games, gymnastic meets, concerts, and other events <http://www.oconnellcenter.ufl.edu>.

Student Health Care Center is an accredited, general practice, outpatient clinic that provides primary medical care, health education, and mental health counseling. Student Legal Services provides free legal counsel to full-time students: small civil cases such as landlord/tenant problems, uncontested divorces without children or real property, consumer problems, and name changes <http://www.union.ufl.edu/slservices.shtml>.
Student Recreation and Fitness Center, in a modern building near the stadium, has racketball and squash courts, strength and conditioning equipment, aerobic dance rooms, and fitness programs <http://www.recsports.hhp.ufl.edu/facilities/fitnesscenters/srfc.htm>.
Teaching Center offers free tutoring in science, statistics, mathematics, business, and engineering. In conjunction with the Graduate School, the Center also conducts a series of workshops for graduate teaching assistants <http://www.teachingcenter.ufl.edu>.
University Counseling Center offers free psychological counseling to all full-time students and their partners. Services are available to students experiencing personal, social, or marital difficulties and include testing, career information, and counseling.
