Interdisciplinary and Other Programs

Because of the flexibility of the psychology major and the large number of elective hours, cross-departmental majors are unusual. However, particular programs can be developed to meet special needs (see the Undergraduate Catalog). Of particular interest may be the Interdisciplinary (IDS) programs in Neurobiological Science and Women's studies. The IDS program in Neurobiological Science offers three tracks: Behavioral Neuroscience; Cellular and Molecular Neuroscience; and Cognitive Neuroscience. These tracks combine the study of psychobiology with intensive programs in physical and biological sciences. The IDS program in Women's Studies focuses on the study of gender, its function in cultures and societies, and its intersection with race and class. Students interested in the IDS program in Neurobiological Science should contact Dr. Donald Stehouwer, PSY 310, 273-2168 or steh@ufl.edu, or visit the IDS Neurobiological Sciences information page at http://www.psych.ufl.edu/~steh/idsmajor.html for more information. Students interested in Women's Studies should contact Dr. Sue Rosser, 115 Anderson Hall, 392-3365.
