On January 29, 2016 the Diversity Awareness and Affirmation Committee (DAAC) hosted the Diversity Art Exhibition. Prior to the event, all members of the UF Psychology community were invited to submit works of art related to multiculturalism, culture, and/or diversity. A culturally-diverse Art Selection Committee organized by DAAC then reviewed all submissions and accepted a terrific array of pieces submitted by undergraduate and graduate students. During the program, the artists and attendees had thoughtful conversations about the artwork and the meaning behind each piece. Attendees were also able to vote for their favorite piece of art. The first place prize was awarded to Abigail Hatcher, an undergraduate student in Psychology, for her piece entitled “Uniqueness” and the second place prize went to Carla Strickland-Hughes, a graduate student in the Developmental Area, for her piece, “Darwin’s Utopia.” All of the artists’ hard work was recognized with certificates of appreciation. Thank you to all of the artists and attendees for making DAAC’s 2016 Diversity Art Exhibition a huge success!
