SPSS Licenses for Home Use

SPSS is now available for purchase at the hub. This is home use and can’t be used on departmental machines. Below is a link to the UF help desk page with details. If you follow the link on this page it will take you to a site where it appears that you can purchase AMOS for about $53. If anyone gets more information on this deal feel free to share. I think a lot of our people would be interested.

Email FAX Service

For those faculty and staff with an Exchange email account and using Outlook, there is a new Efax service available to you. The Efax service allow you to fax an attachment directly from your email. No longer do you have to print out what you want to fax and then go to the front office to fax. Just send the attachment as a fax.

The email ‘To’ field format is [fax:###] where ###=the number you are faxing to (ie: [fax:61020] or [fax:93525551212]

Microsoft Office 2010

In the last week of May we have started deploying Microsoft Office 2010. It has many of the same features of Office 2007, but brought back several requested items from Office 2003. Most notably is the File menu item. Plans are to have everyone up on the new Office suite by the end of June. This project has been successfully completed.

EndNote Web and RefWorks available

MS Office Live Meeting and Office Communicator

MS Office Live Meeting (LM) and Office Communicator is now configured and available on all faculty office PC's. The software can be installed on departmental computers for graduate student use by request.

LM is a conferencing service hosted here at UF. LM allows you to hold meetings with people that are unable to physically attend your meeting. You can, broadcast via a web cam, share a whiteboard, share an application, share your desktop, and such. You can invite people outside of UF. All they need to do to attend is down load and install a plug-in for MS Outlook.

MS Office Communicator is more of an instant messaging type service. Its features include instant messaging, voice, desktop sharing and video. Training videos are available on our support page to get you started.
