- NEW! Big Brothers & Big Sisters of Mid Florida has several internship positions available for casework assistants (although unpaid, you can earn course credit via PSY 4949). The duties and
responsibilities of this position are: to assist professional mentor staff in the administration of our mentoring services to youth; process inquiries; manage client files;
enter data into database; background screenings; supervision of mentor matches; volunteer recruitment; child recruitment; public relations. Those engaged in this position will
play a vital support role in the implementation of our mentoring services and will have first- hand experience in the management of a not-for-profit organization. The qualifications
for this position include: interest and experience in human services; Office computer skills; ability to work in a professional environment. Interns are expected to work

- NEW! The UF Graduate Student Council will be holding its Annual 2010 Interdisciplinary Research Conference on Wednesday,
February 3, 2010 from 8 am-5 pm in the Reitz Union. We would like to invite all interested undergraduate students to submit an application/abstract for a project, poster, or senior thesis they are

- Peaceful Paths is now accepting intern applications for the Violence Prevention Program for the Spring 2010 Semester.
Peaceful Paths is the local Domestic Violence Center in Gainesville, Florida. Our Violence Prevention Program engages in social change work around the issue of preventing
intimate partner violence before it begins through community collaboration, particularly with youth in local schools and community agencies. Interns with the Violence Prevention
Program will engage in the following: (1) state required 24 hour domestic violence core competency training (usually conducted one weekend and several evenings at Peaceful

- The Science, Mathematics, And Research for Transformation (SMART) scholarship-for-service Program fully funds
undergraduate and graduate degrees in a wide range of technical areas, including Cognitive, Neural, and Behavioral Sciences, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics, and
all fields of engineering. This is a highly-selective, prestigious, national program that fully supports students' education, including full tuition and a very generous
stipend while you are in school. Summer internships at Labs are required. In return for fully funding their education, students are required work as a civilian employee at
a Service (Army, Navy, Air Force) or DoD Agency (NSA, DIA, DARPA, etc.) laboratory for a period equal to the time the program paid for their school. Students must be U.S.
Citizens, able to obtain a DoD Security Clearance, and be willing to work in a defense laboratory upon graduation. More information and the application web page are

- Gregory Aarons, Ph.D. of the University of California San Diego
Psychiatry Department is looking to hire a research assistant for a CDC R01 project, Dynamic Adaptation of an Evidence-Based
Child Maltreatment Intervention. The research assistant will work at Child & Adolescent Services Research Center (CASRC),
a division of Rady Children’s Hospital San Diego. The main duties and responsibilities will include coordinating
participation retention and tracking of research participants, preparing and administering survey instruments, tracking and
downloading data using web-based survey programs, conducting research data analysis, and compiling agency feedback reports.
Applicants must: (1) have at least a bachelor’s degree in psychology, social work, or sociology and a strong background in
research methods; (2) possess knowledge of public sector mental health and social service organizations; (3) have
demonstrated experience managing data and performing basic descriptive analyses using SPSS or SAS software. The position

- Dr. Meredith Rowe is looking for a full-time Research Assistant/Lab Manager for her Language Development and Parenting
Laboratory in the Department of Human Development at the University of Maryland, College Park. The Research Assistant’s duties will include: transcribing videos of parent-child
interaction, developing and applying coding schemes to the transcripts, data entry, literature searches and reviews on related topics, assisting with IRB protocols,
developing stimuli, and occasional data collection with toddlers and preschoolers. In addition, the Research Assistant will help to train and manage undergraduates working in
the laboratory on various projects. The candidate must have a bachelor’s degree with a related major (psychology, human development, speech and hearing sciences, education, or
linguistics). The position would be ideal for someone who wishes to go to on to graduate school but first desires some valuable research experience. The ideal candidate will
have experience with the Child Language Data Exchange System (CHILDES); will have some research experience and experience with young children; and will be organized and
independent and willing to make an 18 month (minimum) commitment to the position. This is a full-time job with excellent benefits and an anticipated start date in January 2010.

- The GWU Social Cognition Laboratory (http://www.subiaul.com) under the direction of
Dr. Francys Subiaul is seeking a full-time lab manager to coordinate research on social learning in infants and young children. Job duties include: (1) conducting experiments
with infants and young children; (2) training and supervising a staff of undergraduate and graduate research assistants; (3) general administrative duties, including data
management and maintenance of budgets, lab web pages and recruiting participants; as well as (4) providing general support to Dr. Subiaul and other researchers in the
laboratory. Candidates should have: a bachelor's degree in psychology or a related scientific field such as cognitive science; one or more years of research experience; the
ability to work independently; keen attention to detail; excellent public relations skills; and the ability to interact warmly and professionally with parents and children.
Strong organizational, computational, managerial, problem-solving, and analytic skills are essential. Please send a letter of interest describing your research experiences and
