Current Graduate Students

Yu-Ping


Yu-Ping Huang is a sixth year student in the UF counseling psychology program. Born in Taoyuan City, Taiwan, she earned her BA at National Taiwan Normal University. She received a master's degree in Educational Psychology and Counseling from the University of Missouri-Columbia. Her research focuses on 1) women's eating problems, particularly related to self-objectification and 2) multicultural issues (including race/ethnicity, gender, and international students).


Mike


Mike Parent is a fifth year student in the UF counseling psychology program. Mike earned a BA in Psychology from the University of Manitoba and an MS in Psychology from the University of Florida. Mike's professional interests focus on intersections of gender, sexuality, and health, and he also has completed research on professional training in psychology. Shengying


Shengying Zhang is a fifth year student in the UF counseling psychology program. Shengying was born and raised in Singapore, and is fluent in Mandarin Chinese and understands Hokkien/Taiwanese. She received her BA in Psychology from the National University of Singapore, and her MEd in counseling psychology from the University of Missouri-Columbia. Her professional interests include cultural and identity issues in counseling, anxiety and stress management, crisis intervention, domestic violence intervention, family relationships, career counseling, quantitative and qualitative research on understanding multicultural, cross-cultural, and career issues concerning women, Asian and Asian American, and international student populations, as well as mentoring. To complement her academic/professional life, she enjoys traveling, reading, music, and connecting with friends and family.

Lana


Lana Tolaymat is a fourth year student in the UF counseling psychology program. Lana is originally from Jacksonville, Florida. Lana earned a BS in Psychology with a minor in Women's Studies from the University of Florida. Currently, Lana's research focuses on the experiences of Muslim women. In her spare time, Lana enjoys spending time with family and friends.


Brandon

Brandon Velez is a third year student in the UF counseling psychology program. Brandon grew up in Orlando, Florida and earned a BS from the University of Florida. Brandon's professional interests include the links of discrimination with mental health and job outcomes, the experiences of individuals with multiple marginalized identities, and sexual minority identity development. Esther

Esther Tebbe is a second year student in the UF counseling psychology program. Esther earned a BA in Psychology and Social Welfare from the University of Wisconsin - Madison. Currently, Esther's professional interests focus primarily on the effects of prejudice and discrimination experiences on the mental health and well-being of transgender individuals. In addition to her professional and academic life, Esther enjoys hiking, camping, playing her guitar, and pick-up games of ultimate frisbee.
